Women of the Word
Welcome to the Women's Ministry page. WOW, study group meets year-round with weekly studies during the school year and with a less formal gathering in each of the summer months. Our small group comes together to learn the truths of scripture and how to apply them to our daily lives. Women from all walks of life are welcome! Check out the upcoming studies below.
WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY LEADER: TERRY LAPORTA
Terry is a native New Yorker. She and her husband Larry moved to CT in 2006 to be near their children and nine grandchildren. Terry’s love for her Savior and His Word compels her to teach what she has learned from many excellent teachers to all age groups. Her primary function at FBCW is to lead as many women as are willing to discover God’s truth for themselves. As a former preschool teacher, she also enjoys working with children, leading them to a knowledge of God’s love for them. Her motto for ministry is Ps. 115:1 “Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to Your Name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.”
"40 Min Bible Studies " by Kay Arthur
January - March
40 minute Bible Study from Precept Ministries
We will meet in the Cafe with social distancing and face masks. As the study only takes 40 minutes and doesn’t require homework, we will limit our time together to no more than 1 hour. Hopefully, everyone will be comfortable with these parameters. Our new meeting time will be 11 am Thursdays.
If you’d like to participate, you must sign up below, as books must be ordered.

Meditating on God's Word
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day. Psalm 91:1-16
Meditation is a way of internalizing God’s Word - taking it deep into our hearts so that the Holy Spirit can work through it to guide, teach, purify, and transform us from within.
